Electronic Career Portfolio Requirements

You will create an electronic portfolio of your high school accomplishments and your career aspirations. You may use Microsoft PowerPoint or Prezi to create this presentation. If you choose to use Prezi, please let me know and I will give you access to our class account. If using PowerPoint, please find a template/design that reflects your future goals (don’t use one in PowerPoint; search the Internet for one that is unique to you or even create your own). Upon completion of your presentation, you will present it to the class. This is worth two test grades. 

Presentation Requirements:

  1. 8x8 rule (8 words per line, 8 lines per slide)
  2. Use consistent backgrounds & colors – no more than two backgrounds and no more than 2 or 3 colors
  3. Font size should be readable (20pt or larger)
  4. The portfolio should have no more than 30 pages (including text files)
  5. All information in the portfolio should reflect the student’s accomplishments and experiences throughout their four years in high school
  6. The portfolio must include the following:
    • _____ Title slide
    • _____ Table of Contents slide
    • _____ Resume
    • _____ Cover Letter
    • _____ Reference Letters (2)
    • _____ Career Summary
    • _____ Career Choice
    • _____ Description of Career
    • _____ Education required (be specific – don’t just tell me a degree)
    • _____ Salary/Wages
    • _____ Future job outlook (monetary, advancement,…)
    • _____ Additional sample materials: awards and honors, certifications, community and volunteer activities, conferences or workshops, letters of recognition, evidence of a specific skill (web site or flyer)…
    • _____ Include at least 2 examples of your work (web site, flyer, invitation, spreadsheet,…this can be something you have completed in a class besides BIT)
    • _____ Reflection ~ write a reflection on your high school years
    • _____ Contact slide including your name, address, phone number, and email (hyperlink your email)
  7. HINT: You can embed your "Career Presentation" into your Electronic Portfolio several ways:
    • convert your "Career Presentation" into a video and then embed the video
    • create a button that links to your "Career Presentation" (make sure these are saved in the same folder on your drive or it won't work properly)
  8. Buttons and links should be included on each slide to take you to the “home slide” (table of contents) or to the next slide
  9. Include transition effects
  10. Include at least 2 pictures/clip-art (follow the rules) – a picture of yourself on the title slide or contact slide would be great
  11. Proofread ~ points will be deducted from grammar and spelling errors
  12. Organization ~ points will be deducted for not being organized

Submit to Canvas upon completion.
