Fun-da-middles commercial permission

This email permission was provided on March 26, 2012.

Dr. Taylor,

I apologize that this permission has taken so long. It went through several different individuals and departments. I am able to give you the permission that you need to use the below videos in your Blackboard course for school purposes only. If you are linking, you would just need to site General Mills, Inc. as the creator and owner of the videos by using verbiage such as “Video permission courtesy of General Mills, Inc.”

Please contact me with any questions regarding this permission or any future questions. Good luck with your course.

Sincerely,

Kelly Gross

Ms. Gross,

I appreciate your taking the time to speak with me on the phone.

There are three video commercials located on the YouTube website that I would like to have permission to download and incorporate into our Blackboard course at the Research and Curriculum Unit located at Mississippi State University. We develop online learning curriculum for secondary and post-secondary Career and Technical Education in Mississippi.

The videos would be used in Blackboard, our online learning management system, for our Teacher Academy program. High school students in Mississippi who are considering entering the teaching profession are in these classes. The videos would be shown as discussion starters in a fun, humorous way to aid students in thinking of ways to meet diversity needs and differentiating instruction.

The three videos that I would like to use are for the Fun da-Middles "Gossip", "Plastic Surgery", and "Party." The links for these videos are as follows.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1E3LBRpGMV0&feature=relmfu Links to an external site.

Could you possibly tell me what I need to do to legally download and use these in our class?

Please let me know if you need further information from me regarding this matter. I will be glad to submit.

Ms. Gross,

I wished to follow-up with you regarding my email on March 1, 2012. At that time I sent an email requesting help with obtaining permission to embed the Fun-da-Middles commercials that are currently visible on YouTube into our Blackboard course, our online learning management system. This learning management system is used by many of our teachers in Mississippi. Since I have not heard anything, I wished to check if further information was needed for us to obtain the necessary permissions and keep us from possibly violating any copyright laws.

Thank you for your assistance.

Michelle
